The Republic of Moldova and Ukraine could open two more negotiation clusters for accession to the European Union as early as next week. The announcement was made by the European Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, during the press conference held after the 10th Association Council between the Republic of Moldova and the EU.
“A turning point in the relations between the EU and Moldova. Moldova is approaching EU membership status at an impressive pace, you are one of the leading countries in this respect. We have already opened two negotiation clusters, we expect to open two more soon and to open all of them by the end of the year,” Kos declared.
According to the European official, the opening of the next clusters could be possible at the Intergovernmental Conference in Luxembourg, reports tv8.md.
So far, the Republic of Moldova has opened two of the six negotiation clusters. The first, “Fundamental Values”, was launched in June 2026, and the sixth, “External Relations”, was opened in July, following the unanimous agreement of the 27 member states of the European Union.
