Igor Dodon challenges history. The socialist leader claims that in 1918 there was not a union, but an annexation of Bessarabia to Romania.

The socialist made the statement while announcing the placement of anti-union banners throughout Moldova. In his opinion, the citizens of the country do not want the reunification of the two banks of the Prut. He also accused the government of trying to liquidate the state.

“If we lose statehood, we will become a marginal province of a foreign and indifferent country to our fate. We once experienced the rule of the gendarmes on our territory, who in 1918 crossed the Prut, subordinated the population with weapons. And all the agreements of the Country Council regarding autonomy were blatantly ignored. We do not want such humiliations for us or for our children. Whoever wants union, knows where to go and unite,” Dodon said.

The leader of the PSRM also announced that if necessary, in addition to the placement of banners, the party he leads could carry out other activities, including before Unification Day.
