Ukrainian forces have attacked the infrastructure of the Tihoretsk oil pumping station in the Krasnodar region of Russia, one of the largest oil logistics centers in southern Russia, a source within the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) told The Kyiv Independent.
“Today’s attack on the Tihoretsk oil center, the only supply branch that delivers oil products to Novorossiisk, has dealt a significant blow to the enemy’s oil logistics,” the source said.
The operation was carried out by the SBU’s Alfa Special Operations Center and targeted the infrastructure of the facility in the city of Tihoretsk, according to the source. The location is part of a major oil center that includes a large oil depot and a terminal used for handling Russian fuel and oil products.
The attack caused a large-scale fire at the facility, the source said. Images posted on social networks appear to show several fires at the scene, likely involving fuel storage tanks.
