The telephone discussions between the American President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin leave numerous questions unanswered, stated on Thursday the head of the European Union diplomacy, Kaja Kallas, reports Reuters.
Kallas will participate on Thursday, in the Estonian city of Kuressaare, in a meeting of foreign ministers from the Nordic and Baltic countries (NB8).
Putin proposes a one-day armistice
The leader from the White House announced on Wednesday that he had discussed with Putin about a possible ceasefire in Ukraine.
“Obviously, when we see these conversations between President Trump and President Putin, there are always, you know, a lot of unanswered questions, considering that Russia openly praises the heroic fight that Iran is waging against America”, Kaja Kallas told the press.
Russian President Vladimir Putin had a phone conversation with his American counterpart Donald Trump, announced on Wednesday by the Russian president’s diplomatic advisor, Yuri Ushakov, stating that the two leaders mainly discussed the war in the Middle East.
During the same telephone conversation with his American counterpart, Putin conveyed that he is ready to “declare a ceasefire for the duration of the Victory Day celebrations,” the Russian presidential adviser Yuri Ushakov told the press.
According to him, Trump has “actively supported this initiative, stating that this holiday marks our common victory.”
