Supporters of Alexei Navalny, the Russian opposition figure who died in a penal colony two years ago, have published details from the official autopsy regarding his death, posted on Monday on the X network by Maria Pevcik, a member of the dissident’s team.
Maria Pevcik said that the document was published with the permission of the Navalny family and with the aim of preventing a possible sensationalist official presentation by the Russian state media.
She said that the 270-page forensic expertise was compiled in mid-2024, was in the possession of Navalny’s relatives for the last 18 months, and has been seen by experts.
“Its content does not meet any ethical standard, not even the minimum one,” said Maria Pevcik, according to Agerpres.
Russian authorities have long maintained that Navalny died of natural causes at the age of 47, on February 16, 2024.
His family and team claim that he was killed and attribute his death to President Vladimir Putin.
At the second commemoration of his death, his widow, Yulia Navalnaya, and the German Foreign Minister, Johann Wadephul, announced on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference that Navalny was poisoned with a potent neurotoxic agent.
They referred to laboratory results showing poisoning with a toxin known from South American “arrow” frogs, without presenting the laboratory reports.
Russia has rejected the family’s and Western politicians’ accusations and has notified its objections to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW). It also denies accusations of poisoning Navalny with the Novichok neurotoxic agent in 2022, from which he recovered.
