Dmitri Medvedev, vice chairman of the Security Council of Russia, described American President Donald Trump as “an effective leader” who truly pursues peace and has the ability to challenge the Washington establishment, reports Reuters.
In an interview granted to Reuters and TASS agencies, as well as to the war blogger WarGonzo, Medvedev stated that Trump’s “impetuous” style is in fact “effective” and contributes to achieving his goals.
Referring to Trump’s statements in August, according to which he would have repositioned two nuclear submarines in “appropriate regions” in response to previous warnings from Medvedev about the risks of war, the Russian official commented: “We have not found them yet.”
Medvedev’s comments come in a context of international tensions, where the direct and unconventional approaches of the White House leader are closely watched by Moscow.
