“The President of the USA, Donald Trump, described the devastating attack of Russia on the Ukrainian city of Sumy on 13 April as “a terrible thing” and stated that Moscow had made “a mistake,” without providing any further details, writes The Kyiv Independent.

“I think it was horrible and I was told it was a mistake, but everything is terrible. The whole war is a horror… the fact that it started is an abuse of power.

This is Biden’s war, not mine. I’ve only been here for a short time. Biden gave them billions of dollars and should never have allowed this conflict to start,” Trump said, according to the American press.

On April 13, Russia hit the city of Sumy in a bloody attack that killed at least 34 and injured 117. European leaders have condemned the attack, which occurred on Palm Sunday, calling it “shocking” and “heartbreaking.”

When asked to explain his statement that Russia had made a “mistake” in this context, Trump urged reporters to “ask them.”

“This war is a shame. Millions of people who should be alive are dead. Entire cities in Ukraine are destroyed. The whole Ukrainian culture is deeply affected,” he said.

The leader of the White House added that churches and historic buildings in Ukraine “were among the most beautiful in the world, and now they are reduced to rubble.”

At the same time, the American President declared that he wants to end the war between Russia and Ukraine:

“All I want is to put an end to this conflict, to save as many lives as possible – whether they are Ukrainian or Russian.”

The United States previously led separate negotiations with Ukraine and Russia in Saudi Arabia in order to achieve a ceasefire. On April 6, Zelenski stated that Russia rejects an unconditional ceasefire, as it wants to continue launching missile attacks from the Black Sea.

Ukraine has already agreed to a 30-day full ceasefire proposed by the US. So far, Moscow has refused.”
