Iran has concluded a confidential arms deal, worth 500 million euros, with Russia for the acquisition of portable launchers and advanced ground-to-air missiles.
According to Agerpres, a contract signed in December in Moscow stipulates that Russia will deliver 500 portable “Verba” launchers and 2,500 “9M336” missiles over a period of three years, according to the Financial Times (FT).
Reuters states that it could not verify the information. According to FT, the contract provides for deliveries to take place in three tranches, from 2027 to 2029.
The contract was negotiated between the Russian arms exporter Rosoboronexport and the representative in Moscow of the Iranian Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics (MODAFL), the British publication further writes.
According to the contract consulted by FT, Tehran officially requested these systems in July 2025.
