The former deputy minister of defense of the Russian Federation, Ruslan Talikov, has been detained. According to the Investigative Committee of Russia, quoted by the TASS agency, close to the Kremlin, a criminal investigation has been opened against the former official for embezzlement of budget funds.
The Investigative Committee of Russia specifies that Ruslan Talikov is accused of creating a criminal organization, embezzlement and legalization of embezzled funds, as well as bribery, reports IPN. He is said to have led a group that, between 2017 and 2024, committed more than 15 offenses.
Currently, the Russian authorities are deciding on the preventive measure to be applied. Talikov risks up to 20 years in prison.
Ruslan Talikov held the position of deputy defense minister from December 24, 2015, until June 17, 2024.
