A veteran of the war in Ukraine has been appointed as interim director of a school in Ekaterinburg. Vladimir Sterhov, a former combatant in the “special military operation”, has become the leader of school number 43 in the city – being the first such appointment in the Urals region. In his inaugural speech, he declared that he will build the “school of the future” and together with his team, will “educate a generation of worthy people”.
Previously, Sterhov was the deputy for security and law at School No. 47 in the same city and taught the discipline of “basics of life security” (OBJ). He volunteered to go to the front in February 2022 as a dog trainer and returned no later than the fall of the same year. Later on, he joined the education system and was admitted to the regional program “Administrative Staff of the Urals”, aimed at war veterans.
This is the fourth time in Russia that a veteran of the war with Ukraine is appointed to lead an educational institution. In 2023, a former motorized battalion commander was appointed interim director of a school in the Tomsk region after the previous director was arrested for bribery.
