US President Donald Trump has stated that he is ready to hold discussions with Iranian leaders, despite the intensification of American military operations in the region, which he described as “very positive” and “ahead of schedule”, reports France 24.
“They want to talk, and I agreed to talk, so I will talk to them. They should have done it earlier”, Trump affirmed, according to The Atlantic publication. When asked when these discussions could take place, the White House leader responded: “I can’t tell you”.
The statements come in the context of the escalating conflict between the United States and Iran. In an interview with CNBC, Trump characterized the American offensive as “very positive”.
“We are doing our job not only for us, but for the whole world. And everything is ahead of schedule”, he said, adding that “things are evolving in a very positive way at this moment”.
At the same time, in a conversation with a Fox News journalist, the American president claimed that “48 leaders” of Iran have been eliminated so far.
“It’s moving fast. Nobody can believe it: 48 leaders have been eliminated all at once”, Trump declared, according to the report later published on platform X by the respective journalist.
Subsequently, CENTCOM – The American Military Command for the Middle East – confirmed that three American soldiers were killed, and another five were seriously injured in the operations in the region.
