Russian propagandists and state media in Moscow openly talk about a new “special military operation” targeting NATO. According to them, this “will be very short.”
The RIA Novosti Agency published a piece titled “Russia faces a new special military operation. It will be very short”, signed by propagandist Aleksandr Nosovici, director of the RuBaltic publication and member of the Russian Council for Foreign and Defense Policy, according to the Ukrainian publication UNN.
In the article, Lithuania is compared to Ukraine. According to Nosovici, Russia could use nuclear weapons against the Baltic state, without sending ground forces there.
“Since our adversaries are the first to shift the discussion into the realm of nuclear threat, Russia can even afford to give up on deploying ground forces. Missiles with warheads are enough,” Nosovici asserts.
According to the Lithuanian press, Nosovici is part of an active influence network in the Baltic states, coordinated by the Kremlin’s special services, writes Antena3. He receives direct instructions from coordinators in Russia.
According to analysts, such aggressive messages appear in the press controlled by the Kremlin against the backdrop of warnings from European intelligence services about possible preparations by Russia for provocations.
The Danish military intelligence service, the Czech intelligence services, and the Polish Prime Minister, Donald Tusk, have previously warned that there is a risk of hybrid attacks or limited military strikes by Russia against the territory of some NATO states in the coming months.
Analysts consider the Suwalki Corridor, the border area between Poland and Lithuania that separates Belarus from the Kaliningrad exclave, as one of the most vulnerable points.
