Adam Kadyrov, the 18-year-old son of Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov, was awarded the anniversary medal “90 years of traffic police within the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia”, a few months after causing a road accident that resulted in the death of a driver in the city of Grozny.

The distinction was awarded on the occasion of the anniversary of the Russian traffic police, reports The Moscow Times. According to Ramzan Kadyrov, who also received the same medal, the Chechen traffic police ranks “among the top five” in the Russian Federation in terms of road safety indicators.

Fatal accident in Grozny

The accident involving Adam Kadirov took place in January, in Grozny. According to the information published at that time by Kavkaz.Realii, which quoted sources close to the case, and by the Chechen opposition’s Telegram channel NIYSO, the young man was driving the lead vehicle in an official convoy when he allegedly ran a red light and hit another car.

The driver of the other car died as a result of the impact, and Adam Kadîrov was seriously injured and taken to the hospital. He was taken to intensive care, where doctors removed his spleen and found serious damage to the optic nerve.

He has received numerous distinctions in recent years.

Adam Kadirov is one of the most well-known children of the Chechen leader. In October 2023, when he was 15 years old, he was awarded the title of “Hero of the Chechen Republic”, following the release of a video recording in which he assaulted a young Ukrainian detainee in Grozny, accused of burning a copy of the Quran.

At that moment, Ramzan Kadyrov publicly declared that he is proud of his son’s actions. Subsequently, Adam Kadyrov received several distinctions and was appointed to important positions in Chechnya, including Secretary of the Security Council and coordinator within the regional Ministry of the Interior.
