Patriarch Kirill has urged Russians not to pray for higher salaries, career advancement, and material goods. According to a sermon given by the head of the Russian church, “heaven will not answer” such requests.

The cleric gave the speech at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow, on February 15, reports fontanka.ru. Among the things that Christians should not ask God for, in his opinion, also include the acquisition of a house or a car.

“You pray for something that is simply impossible to fulfill… Heaven does not respond to such requests,” said the patriarch.

At the same time, Kirill urged parishioners to pray for everything related to faith, relationships with family and friends. Previously, the patriarch had urged Russians to thank God for the leadership they have in the country.
