While the front in Ukraine continues to consume lives and resources, a portion of the Russian elite was caught partying in some of the most exclusive resorts in Western Europe. Recently surfaced images on social networks show influencers and celebrities close to Moscow’s power circles skiing, parading on the red carpet, and consuming luxury champagne in Courchevel, the famous resort in the French Alps.
Among the participants was also Ksenia Sobchak, a TV presenter and media owner, known as Vladimir Putin’s goddaughter. Her father, Anatoli Sobchak, former mayor of Saint Petersburg, played an essential role in the political rise of the current Kremlin leader in the years following the collapse of the Soviet Union. She recounted this trip with a private plane, luxury hotels, parties on the ski slopes, and even a private concert held by Patricia Kaas, who remains popular in Russia, writes Franceinfo.

The event that triggered the scandal was organized by the fashion and footwear chain Rendez-Vous, which chose Courchevel to celebrate its 25 years of existence and 16 years since the opening of the boutique in the resort. The guest list included influencers with millions of followers, top models, and public figures omnipresent on Russian television, including on the public channel Rossia 1, the main propaganda tool of the Kremlin.
