Ukraine should not be excluded from discussions about ending the war initiated by Russia, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda stated on Thursday in Vilnius, amid reports of a possible trilateral summit between the United States, Russia, and China in November, reports dpa.
Moscow wishes for such a meeting to take place on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, scheduled for November in the Chinese city of Shenzhen.
The American President, Donald Trump, has shown openness towards a meeting with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, and Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, stating that discussions between the three major nuclear powers on the subject of nuclear disarmament would be ‘a very good thing for the world’. He added that other topics, such as the war in Ukraine, would also be addressed during such a meeting.
“Ukraine must definitely be included in the negotiations,” Nauseda emphasized.
“The formats proposed by Moscow, such as the one that includes China, the USA, and Russia, fuel suspicions that a scenario similar to that of the Second World War could be repeated, leading to a division into spheres of influence,” declared the Lithuanian president, adding that this causes deep concern throughout the region.
