The authoritarian leader of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, is building a luxurious, heavily secured residential complex in an elite mountain resort in southern Russia, according to an investigation published by the Belarusian Investigative Center (BIC), an independent investigative journalism group based in Warsaw, cited by TPWorld.
The project, located near the city of Krasnaia Poliana, close to the Sochi resort, spans an area of 10 hectares and is progressing rapidly, claim the BIC journalists, who visited the construction site in July and October. Officially, the complex is presented as a luxury hotel, but the investigators argue that its structure and security level indicate that it is, in fact, a private residence intended for Lukashenko.
The complex is surrounded by a 2.5-meter fence, reinforced with barbed wire and built to withstand even attempts to dig tunnels. The area will be monitored by six security posts equipped with armament chambers, radiation sensors, X-ray devices, thermal cameras, and anti-drone systems. Each of the four main buildings will have its own security unit, and the entrance will be protected by a several-ton metal gate, capable of stopping a speeding vehicle.
In addition to strict security measures, the complex stands out for its extravagant luxury: the largest building will include a banquet hall, an underground pool, saunas, and massage rooms, and the three adjacent villas – almost completed – have private pools, four bedrooms, and relaxation areas. Also, a mini-complex of hotels and restaurants, spread over 1,000 square meters, will be reserved for the owner’s guests.
