The new commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Mihailo Drapatîi, stated on Wednesday that he has been tasked with intensifying counter-offensive actions and conducting new operations within Russian territory, reports Reuters.
Drapatîi has just been appointed to his position by President Volodimir Zelenski, following several days of protests sparked by the dissatisfaction of Ukrainians with the former military chief of the army, Oleksandr Sîrski.
“The President of Ukraine has set clear objectives for us – to continue and intensify offensive operations at all levels, to plan new operations behind enemy lines, to develop our army and technologies, and to enhance the capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine”, Drapatîi wrote in a Facebook post.
Ukraine has intensified its attacks on Russian energy infrastructure and the logistic capacities of the aggressor state.
Major General Ihor Skibiuk, former commander of the Ukrainian air forces, will become the new head of the Ukrainian general staff, Drapatîi also said.
