The Russian air defense is primarily targeted these days by Ukrainian attacks at long distances, both in the occupied territories and in Russia, given that Kiev is trying to increase the effectiveness of its strikes against the military infrastructure and the energy sector of the enemy to force Moscow to start negotiations, EFE reported on Monday, according to Agerpres.
The “Phantom” unit of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense (GUR) announced on Monday that it had attacked three important elements of Russia’s air defense network in occupied Donbas, including a command post of the advanced S-400 system, and published a video recording of each of the attacks carried out in the last two weeks.
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and other units attacked a port and a military base in Novorossiisk, in the Russian region of Krasnodar, on Friday.
A source within the defense forces told the Ukrainian digital publication RBC-Ukraine over the weekend, also providing a satellite image of the aftermath of the attack, that at least four S-400 launchers, the most sophisticated in the Russian arsenal, and two radars were destroyed at the base in Novorossiisk.
“Each destroyed system creates a gap in defense, which Ukrainian drones and missiles will certainly take advantage of,” the source said.
Increasing the cost of the war for Russia has long been a key element of Ukraine’s defense against the invasion, despite the lack of long-range weapons and the restrictions imposed on Kiev by its international partners.
