Following the Ukrainian air strikes on Moscow, Kremlin propagandist Margarita Simonian admitted live on Russian television that her children have been sleeping in the hallway and in the closet for over a month.
For Russian propaganda, this represents a dramatic shift in rhetoric: the war, presented for years as being distant and controllable, has now entered the life of the Moscow elite.
Simonian spoke about this during Vladimir Soloviov’s show, on Russia 1 TV station:
“The drones are flying. It’s unpleasant, scary. My children have been sleeping in the hallway and in the closet for a month. Ukraine is eagerly waiting for the people here to start revolting, and for us to start, well, how should I put it, disintegrating into groups… They are counting on the fact that they will be able to create a civil war among us here,” Simonian said.
This statement came in the context of one of Ukraine’s largest attacks on Moscow and the Moscow region, reports Dialog
Simonian tried to present the attacks as an attempt by Ukraine to intimidate the Russians.
Senator Oleg Morozov, within the same broadcast, acknowledged that the attacks have become “closer to each of us” and “more massive”.
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, described yesterday’s attacks on the Moscow region as a response to Russia’s prolongation of the war and attacks on Ukrainian cities. He said that Russia must end the war.
Generally, the Russian press conceals information about the large-scale attack on Moscow. During the attacks, an oil refinery, enterprises of the military-industrial complex, and the Sheremetyevo airport were damaged.
