France and the United Kingdom are considering the deployment of a multinational military contingent in Ukraine, should a peace agreement be reached between Kiev and Moscow, Politico reports.

French President Emmanuel Macron announced on Tuesday, during a meeting of the Coalition of Will, the formation of a new military contingent – to be led by France and the UK, with the participation of the USA and Turkey.

“In the coming days we will clearly clarify the contribution each country will make and we will be able to present the security guarantees in their final form”, said Macron.

A “multinational force” will play a “vital role” in ensuring Ukraine’s security, said British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, during the teleconference in which US Secretary of State Marco Rubio also participated on behalf of the USA.
