Vladimir Zelensky announced on Wednesday that two of his envoys will meet on Thursday in Geneva with mediators from the White House, to negotiate an economic agreement for the reconstruction of Ukraine. The leader from Kiev expressed hope that additional trilateral discussions with Russian and American representatives will take place at the beginning of March.
Ukraine will be represented at Thursday’s meeting in Switzerland by Rustem Umerov, the head of Ukraine’s National Security Council, and by the Minister of Economy, Alexei Sobolev. The two will discuss with Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
Ukraine hopes to sign an agreement with the Americans and Europeans, which would guarantee post-war foreign investments to rebuild the country and boost its economy affected by the Russian invasion.
As for the next trilateral meeting with the Americans and Russians, Zelensky says he expects a new prisoner exchange after the trilateral. Also, Kiev wants to attract about 800 billion dollars from public and private funds over the next 10 years, to rebuild the country.
Ukrainian and Russian negotiators met this month for the third time, at meetings mediated by the USA, but they failed to reach any solution regarding the key points still in dispute, including the territorial issue.
