Two of the sons of Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov have become, since childhood, the owners of luxury properties in the center of the capital Grozny, with a total estimated value of about 1.3 billion rubles (almost 17 million dollars), according to a report by the investigative project Можем объяснить (We Can Explain).
The eldest of them, Ali Kadyrov, aged 19, is listed as the owner of a plot of about 4,500 square meters and a villa of over 1,300 square meters, located just a few hundred meters from his father’s residence. The investigation estimates the value of the property at over 500 million rubles.
Ali runs the “Ahmat” fight club, has received awards from the Chechen authorities, and has already had official meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Abdullah Kadyrov came into possession of a huge fortune when he was only 7 years old
In the immediate vicinity lives his younger brother, Abdullah, who at just 9 years old, has been the owner of a palace of about 2,000 square meters since he was 7 years old. The property came into his name after Ramzan Kadyrov rented the land, put it in the child’s name, and then it was privatized.
The estimated value of the property is 800 million rubles (almost 10 million dollars).
In the same neighborhood is the residence of another son of the Chechen leader, Adam Kadyrov, owner of a four-story mansion valued at about 750 million rubles. To ensure a direct view towards the Kadyrov family residence, a nearby building would have been demolished.
Investigators from We Can Explain emphasize that none of the children have official sources of income that could justify such acquisitions, raising questions about the source of the funds.
