Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, authors of scientific publications in Russia have started to quote Vladimir Putin more frequently in their work, reports Verstka, which analyzed a large volume of texts from the academic database eLibrary.

Between 2022 and 2025, Putin was mentioned in at least 26,500 scientific papers, and at least 705 publications were directly dedicated to him.

The mentions appear not only in political science or sociology journals, but also in fields such as pedagogy, philology, cultural studies, and even medicine. In many cases, **quotes from Putin’s speeches, decrees, and messages are used not as an object of critical analysis, but as evidence in support of the authors’ theses.

For example, in an article about “preserving the historical memory of the Great War for the Defense of the Homeland”, the title contains a full statement by Putin:

“In every Russian school there should be a museum that carefully preserves the memory of the past war and its heroes.”

In another work dedicated to youth education, Putin is quoted with the formulation:

“…The formation of a harmonious personality, the education of a Russian citizen — a mature, responsible person…”
