Dmitri Peskov asserts that John Ratcliffe, the CIA director, came to Moscow for meetings with representatives of the Russian special services. On August 25, when the first information about a mysterious American plane landed in the Russian capital, the official said he knew nothing about the presence of an American delegation in Russia.
According to the spokesperson for the Kremlin, Ratcliffe would not have had meetings scheduled with Vladimir Putin.
“Contacts with Putin were not planned,” Peskov commented on the visit.
Contrary to these statements, Kremlin-accredited journalists reported on Tuesday that Vladimir Putin unexpectedly cancelled an event a few days ago, which had mobilized hundreds of people.
