The first images transmitted by the observation satellite Mikroglob-1, launched by Poland this summer, capture the shipyard in Dalian, where China’s fourth aircraft carrier is reportedly under construction, and what is “most likely” compartments for its nuclear reactors, according to the satellite’s manufacturers.
The photographs were published by the Polish aerospace company Creotech Instruments, which claims that the system provides Warsaw with a new strategic surveillance capability from orbit, reports TVP World.
“An exceptionally interesting object”
One of the high-resolution images shows the port area of the city of Dalian, in northeastern China. According to the company, an “object of particular interest” can be observed in the shipyard, namely the future Chinese aircraft carrier under construction.
Representatives of Creotech state that “most likely,” the aircraft carrier “will be equipped with two nuclear reactors, whose compartments, still uncovered by the deck, are clearly visible in the image\”.
The company conveyed, along with the publication of the photos on the X platform, that “Poland now has its own eyes in orbit”, emphasizing that the Mikroglob program contributes to strengthening national satellite observation capabilities, local technological expertise, and state security.
The company’s executive director, Grzegorz Brona, described the images as “an important milestone” for the Polish space program.
