Vladimir Putin made his first statements about the peace plan negotiated by the Americans with Ukraine, after the initial version, sent by his advisers to Steve Witkoff, was substantially modified.
Putin stated on Thursday, at a press conference, that “there were no projects or final agreements. There was a set of issues that needed to be discussed and definitively formulated” and that “the Russian Federation generally agrees that the list of US points regarding Ukraine can serve as a basis for future agreements”. “After that, negotiations took place in Geneva between the American delegation and the Ukrainian delegation. And they, as far as I understand, decided among themselves that all these 28 points should be divided into four separate components”, declared the Kremlin leader.
Putin said that the project plan for Ukraine must be expressed “in diplomatic language”, because “some points sound amusing”. Russia is ready to confirm that it does not intend to attack Europe and is prepared to discuss with the West the issues of European security and strategic stability, Putin said.
“The statements about the possibility of a Russian attack on Europe are lies and nonsense”, Putin added. “From our point of view, this is total nonsense, it is a lie. However, if this is promoted in public consciousness, if they have scared their citizens, if they want to hear that we do not intend, that we have no aggressive plan against Europe, then, please, we are ready to record that as they wish.”
