Even in the midst of negotiating an armistice with Kiev, Vladimir Putin persists in his strategy of “russification” of the occupied territories.

With the announcement of the conquest of Pokrovsk, Putin, dressed in military uniform, has set out to transform the Ukrainians in Donbass into “true Russians” over the next ten years.

The term appears in the new “National State Political Strategy”, writes Avvenire, a document signed by Putin, in which he entrusts the occupied administrations to loyalists, spies, and criminals, disguising them as promoters of a “homogeneous” identity and territorial integration.

At the heart of the plan is the idea of Russia as a “civilizational state.” The Kremlin aims to ensure that by 2036, 95% of the country’s entire population identifies as Russian, including the three million Ukrainians in the occupied territories and those who will join them if the territorial conquests continue. The deadline is not chosen randomly.

With the constitutional reform of 2020, Vladimir Putin will be able to remain in office until 2036. The news came as a verdict for the Ukrainians who have been living for four years in the occupied regions, even though in the end, negotiations and the battlefield will decide what will happen.
