Russia has denied transmitting information about American military equipment in the Middle East to Iran, stated on Tuesday the special envoy of the American president Donald Trump, Steve Witkoff, reports Reuters, as taken over by Agerpres.

This denial of support was conveyed to Trump by the Russian president Vladimir Putin, in the phone conversation they had on Monday at the initiative of the White House leader, Witkoff specified in an interview given to CNBC.

“Yesterday, in the discussion with the president (Trump), the Russians said they did not provide information” to Iran, Witkoff responded when asked if Washington believes that Moscow has transmitted to Tehran information about the location of American military equipment in the Persian Gulf area, as claimed on Friday by the American newspaper Washington Post.

“We can take their word for it. But they really said that. And yesterday morning Jared (Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner ed.) and I had a separate phone conversation with Ushakov (the foreign policy adviser of the Kremlin, Yuri Ushakov ed.), who reiterated the same thing”, Witkoff added. “This question should rather be addressed to those in the intelligence services, but let’s hope that (the Russians ed.) do not transmit information” to Iran, he concluded.
