Vladimir Putin will not stop the war against Ukraine, neither due to the “colossal” losses of the Russian army, nor due to economic decline. The only factor that could make him change his position is a shift in public opinion in Russia, and this process has already begun, asserts the President of Finland, Alexander Stubb.

In an interview for the Financial Times, the Finnish leader stated that this is one of the reasons why NATO states, including the USA, support Ukraine’s increasingly broad campaign of attacks on targets within Russian territory. The aim is to increase pressure on Moscow and bring it back to the negotiating table.

According to Stubb, despite fears of a possible escalation from Russia, including nuclear threats, the Ukrainian drone campaign has changed Washington’s strategic perception of the war and strengthened Kiev’s position in potential negotiations.

“Everyone, including our American friends, sees that Ukraine now dominates the battlefield. This has changed the strategic vision of those trying to mediate the peace process,” declared the President of Finland.
