The envoy sent by Vladimir Putin to Washington denounced on Sunday “attempts to sabotage” his “constructive” dialogue with the United States with a view to the “peaceful” end of the war in Ukraine, writes Agerpres, citing AFP.
“We are witnessing titanic attempts to sabotage any dialogue between Russia and the United States,” said in a video message Kirill Dmitriev, the Kremlin’s envoy on economic issues.
He has been undertaking a visit to Washington since Friday, during which he hopes to meet with officials of the American government.
His visit comes a few days after Donald Trump said he no longer meets in Budapest with Vladimir Putin because he “does not want to waste time”.
“We are ready for a constructive dialogue and a clear communication of Russia’s position on several issues. Russia wants a peaceful settlement” of the conflict, the envoy insisted, while the international press reports that Russia has been bombing Ukraine night after night recently.
Dmitriev reiterated the thesis persistently propagated by the Russian president, which says that “respecting Moscow’s interests” and “eradicating the deep causes of the Ukrainian crisis” should serve as the basis for “fair solutions”.
Kiev has in turn replied each time that respecting Russian claims equals the capitulation of Ukraine.
