One of the main ideologists of Russian President Vladimir Putin, philosopher Alexander Dugin, argues that Russia should completely shut down the internet during the summer, so that people can return to a “real” life.
Dugin believes that Russians should disconnect from the internet during the summer months and only return online in the winter. In his opinion, people can communicate very well without technology, including through simple methods such as direct talking or even whistling at the window, according to The Moscow Times.
“If the internet is completely shut down, especially in the spring, people will start to walk, meet, discuss, visit cafes and shops, make new acquaintances and live a real human life. And it can be restarted at the end of autumn. The internet in Russia should adapt to the seasonal cycles of bears and butterflies. In the summer, it is shut down because there is life. In winter, in a den or curled up like a worm, you can still use the internet,” Dugin wrote.
He even suggested that Russians could communicate without the internet, stating that “they can whistle at the window to speak”.
Call for stricter state control
Last week, the philosopher also advocated for strengthening state control over society, saying that Russians should accept this as an inevitable reality. In his opinion, it is preferable for this control to be exercised by the Russian state and not by external influences.
“If it’s not ours, it will be someone else’s. Yes, this is the world we live in; we don’t have another world for you,” Dugin wrote.
