The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Chargé d’Affaires of Romania in Moscow, Liliana Burda, on Wednesday to hand her a note informing her that Russia has declared the military attaché of the Romanian embassy in the Russian Federation and his deputy “persona non grata”, according to a brief statement posted on the official website of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, mid.ru.”The Chargé d’Affaires of Romania in the Russian Federation, Liliana Burda, was summoned to the State Protocol Department of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” the official news agency TASS had previously announced, without specifying the reason for the summons. According to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs statement, this is a response to what they consider an “unfounded” decision by the Romanian side to declare the Russian military attaché at the Embassy in Bucharest and his assistant “persona non grata.”The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on March 5 that it was declaring the Russian military attaché at the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Bucharest, as well as his deputy, “persona non grata” in Romania, and that they must leave the country immediately. According to information on the Russian Embassy’s website in Bucharest, the two positions were held by Victor Makovsky and Yevgeny Ignatiev.
