Russia is sharing with Iran advanced drone usage tactics, developed during the war against Ukraine, according to a Western intelligence source cited by CNN. The information would contribute to improving the way the Iranian military launches attacks in the Middle East.
According to the same source, the advice provided by Moscow would help the forces of the Islamic Republic to organize drone attacks on targets in the Persian Gulf states and on American military installations in the region.
According to CNN, Shahed-type drones, developed by Tehran and produced in large numbers in Russia, have unexpectedly managed to penetrate the air defense systems of several countries in the Gulf area.
“What was previously considered general support is now increasingly alarming, as it includes drone attack strategies that Russia used in Ukraine,” an anonymous intelligence services source told the American television.
Moscow denies the accusations
The American press previously reported that Russia would have provided Iran with information that could be used to launch attacks on American military targets in the Middle East. Moscow, however, has denied these accusations.
In the meantime, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, announced that Kiev has sent experts to the Middle East to help the region’s states improve their defense against Iranian drones.
