Russian forces have begun to increasingly deploy electronic warfare (EW) systems to disrupt Starlink satellite communications, said Serhii Beskrestnov, advisor to the Ukrainian Defense Minister, according to nv.ua on Tuesday.
According to Beskrestnov, Starlink remains a major challenge for Russian forces, which has led to repeated attempts to interfere with the satellite network since the beginning of the large-scale invasion.
The first documented case in which a Russian EW system managed to target Starlink was recorded on the Kharkov front in 2023, he said. The Ukrainian forces quickly identified and destroyed the involved system.
“Until 2026, there have been no large-scale attempts to replicate its use,” said Beskrestnov.
“After Ukraine began launching Middle Strike attacks against Russian logistical infrastructure, we once again started detecting EW activity targeting the Starlink communication system.”
