The founder of Russia’s largest metallurgical holding, “Rusal”, Oleg Deripaska, has deleted all posts critical of the war in Ukraine and the Russian authorities from his Telegram channel, notes the publication Vajnîie Istorii. All publications prior to November 1, 2025, were removed, including the post where the invasion was described as “madness” that “must be stopped immediately”.
The comment in which Deripaska criticized the new customs duties for exporters, calling them “extortions/confiscation” and sarcastically stating that the “declared well-being of the population” can only be observed “in Moscow and on television”, has also disappeared.
Among the deleted posts were:
-
the proposal to reduce by a quarter the personnel of the law enforcement agencies and the Ministry of Defense;
-
the idea for them to switch to a six-day work week with a 12-hour schedule;
-
the warning that in the absence of these measures “we will have to increase taxes to feed this whole army of bureaucrats”;
-
the comparison between Russian entrepreneurs and the porters on the Volga who “pull with their backs the unsinkable ship of our banking system”;
-
the call to let the ruble depreciate to 105 per dollar.
Even the more recent posts have been edited. On January 12, Deripaska warned of the imminent collapse of “thousands of companies” in Russia, accusing government officials of an “absurd experiment” that “will end in disgrace”. Now, that message has been replaced with a formal text about the need for coordination between the government and the business environment in combating inflation.
