Russian strategic bombers Tupolev TU-22M3 conducted a patrol flight over the neutral waters of the Black Sea on Tuesday, announced the Russian Ministry of Defense in a statement, quoted by EFE agency.
According to the Russian ministry, the bombers were escorted for over five hours by Sukhoi SU-35 and Sukhoi SU-27 fighter jets.
“All flights of the Russian Aerospace Forces are carried out in strict compliance with international norms regarding the use of airspace”, the military statement reads.
In October and November, Russian bombers conducted similar patrols over the Baltic Sea, notes EFE, quoted by Agerpres.
The Russian strategic aviation, composed of Tupolev TU-160, Tupolev TU-95MS, and Tupolev TU-22M3 aircraft, regularly conducts patrols over the neutral waters of the Arctic, North Atlantic, Black Sea, and the Baltic Sea, the Pacific Ocean, and other areas, flights that have not been interrupted by the war in Ukraine.
