The spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, has dismissed allegations that the former leader of the Russian opposition, Alexei Navalny, was poisoned in prison with a toxin extracted from frogs in Ecuador, reports the Russian state news agency TASS.

“When the test results are available and the formulas of the substances are made public, we will comment accordingly,” Zakharova stated.“Until then, all these claims are just propaganda meant to divert attention from the pressing problems of the West,” she added.

Zakharova criticized the timing of these allegations.

“Just when the investigation into the Nord Stream explosions was about to yield results, suddenly Navalny’s poisoning is brought to the forefront. When asked for Navalny’s test results, Western officials instead distributed sensational stories about Skripal (referring to agent Sergei Skripal). This pattern continues incessantly,” Zakharova further said.
