The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, announced that the country’s next military parade will include thousands of armed robots and that he will seek China’s support for the implementation of this project, inspired by technologies seen in Beijing.

Vucic presented on Monday robots manufactured by the Chinese company AGIBOT Innovation and spoke about their potential in the field of security. “One detail caught my attention at the presentation, as soon as they said they also have larger robots, each capable of carrying 100 kg – because these can carry 10, 20, 30 kg – which means they can carry cameras and can work, which they are already doing in China: border control, there are (robotic) versions with wheels on roads, there are wheel-less versions that can jump over obstacles and can do anything you can think of and can be armed“, explained the Serbian president, according to Agerpres.

He added: “So, at our next military parade, we will have thousands of robots and we will provide additional security to our country“.

Ambitious Plans for Serbia’s Robot Industry

Vucic stated that Serbia intends to develop the industry of artificial intelligence applications and to have a workforce of 8,000 employees in this field by 2030. He also mentioned that the country could become the first in Europe to produce humanoid robots.

“This year, in the next few months, we can launch one of the largest investments in Serbia and we can become the first country in Europe to produce such robots“, said the president, at the Chinese cultural center in Belgrade.

Vucic emphasized that the robots, including all their components, could be manufactured in Serbia. “This is about applied artificial intelligence, not just about software, but also about hardware“, he added.
