For the first time, Russia has used a new type of Iranian drone, Shahed-107, against Ukraine, according to images published on social networks. The device, more compact and cheaper than previous versions, is designed to evade Ukrainian air defense systems.

The photos and video materials were analyzed by Ukrainian electronic warfare expert Sergei “Flash” Beskrestnov, who published images on his Telegram channel. One of the clips shows the drone captured by a camera mounted on a Ukrainian interception UAV, while other frames present fragments of a downed device, including production markings.

According to Beskrestnov, the introduction of the Shahed-107 model is a direct response to the increasing efficiency of Ukrainian interceptor drones and mobile air defense units. The new drones are considerably smaller and less costly than the Shahed-131/136, frequently used for attacks on infrastructure.

He asserts that, although the explosive payload of the model is reduced, the appearance of these drones forces the Ukrainian defense to consume additional resources for their detection and neutralization.
