The authorities in Bulgaria have checked a truck that was supposed to transport figs from Turkey to Germany. The officials discovered dozens of combat weapons in the vehicle.

Inside the vehicle were 45 combat pistols. The incident occurred at the Kapitan Andreevo customs, considered the “gateway to the EU”.

The Turkish truck, which had valid transport documents, was subjected to a thorough inspection following a risk analysis, notes Agerpres. The scanner check revealed areas of unusual density, which in fact represented the places where the weapons were hidden.

In the last three months, 1640 firearms have been detected and seized at the Bulgarian border crossing points, according to customs authorities. The number is five times larger than the total amount of weapons confiscated in the last six years.
