In new documents published by the US Department of Justice in the Jeffrey Epstein case, the American financier is described as the “administrator of the wealth” of Vladimir Putin. The information was signaled by the publication “Agentstvo”. It is about an FBI report from November 27, 2017, based on the statements of a confidential source.

According to the document, Epstein would have “offered similar services” to the former dictator of Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe. In total, in the new set of documents, Putin’s name is mentioned 1055 times, and the word “Russia” appears 5876 times.

The materials also include correspondence in which Epstein discusses possible meetings with Vladimir Putin. Thus, in a message from October 2010, Epstein was asked: “Was Putin on your yacht?”. In November of the same year, requesting a Russian visa, he wrote: “I have a friend of Putin, should I ask him?”. In August 2011, Epstein wrote to a businessman from the United Arab Emirates that “Putin might come to the US and I would prefer to meet him here”.

A particularly intense correspondence on this subject took place with the former Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Thorbjørn Jagland. In May 2013, Epstein wrote to him that at a dinner in Paris, where Bill Gates was to participate, “Putin is also invited”. In January 2014, Epstein asked Jagland “to explain to Putin” that Russia needs “a more advanced version of bitcoin”. In October 2017, he came back with the request to discuss digital currencies with Putin, and in June 2018 he wrote that he “would very much like to meet Putin” and that he is willing to meet with the Russian foreign minister, Sergei Lavrov.

From the documents, it is not clear whether a meeting between Jeffrey Epstein and Vladimir Putin eventually took place.
