The first European Center for Economic Security, Technology and Resilience, an Aspen Romania initiative, was officially launched on Monday in Brussels. The event took place in the presence of Roxana Mînzatu, Executive Vice President for Social Rights and Skills, Quality Jobs and Training, within the European Commission, notes ecestr.eu.

“Starting from the premise that economic security and resilience are an integral part of the extended concept of security, the European Center for Economic Security, Technology and Resilience, based in Brussels, represents a response to the Strategy and Communication of the European Commission on economic security, being a platform for dialogue, decision-making and impact analysis between the supranational level (EU, NATO), member/allied states and the economic environment.

The Center’s activities cover industries and critical infrastructures in the field of telecommunications and space, financial industry, energy, health, cybersecurity and resilience of supply chains with raw materials, with an emphasis on the impact of new technologies (artificial intelligence, biotechnology, quantum) on security and resilience at the national and European level,” the aforementioned source conveyed.

“In a world where economic security, resilience to shocks, the technological revolution and external dependencies affect competitiveness and European interests, we must never forget about the impact of these transformations on people and our societies,” declared Roxana Mînzatu.
