The Anti-Corruption Agency of Ukraine (NABU) arrested former Energy Minister Gherman Galuschenko on Sunday as he tried to leave the country. Galuschenko resigned last year following a vast corruption scandal, reports AFP, according to Agerpres.

“Today, while crossing the border, NABU investigators detained the former energy minister in connection with the Midas case,” the agency said in a statement, referring to the corruption scandal that rocked Ukraine’s energy sector last year.

Galuschenko’s name was not mentioned in the statement, but he held the position of energy minister in 2025 and resigned in November last year.

“Initial investigations are underway, conducted in accordance with the law and judicial sanctions. More details will be published,” NABU added.
