The Director of the National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC), Joseph Kent, has resigned in protest against the war between the United States of America and Iran, accusing Israel of pressuring the initiation of the conflict.
According to his statements, Iran did not pose an imminent threat, and the war would have been triggered “due to the pressures exerted by Israel and its powerful lobby in America”.
“I cannot, in good conscience, support the ongoing conflict,” Kent stated in his resignation letter.
In the document, Joseph Kent criticized President Donald Trump for allegedly straying from the non-interventionist principles promoted during his electoral campaign.
“By June 2025, you understood that the wars in the Middle East are a trap that has cost America the precious lives of our patriots and has drained the wealth and prosperity of the nation,” the former military man wrote in his resignation letter.
Kent added that the White House leader could still change his decision regarding the conflict.
“The time for courageous action is now. You can change the direction and chart a new course for our nation or you can let us slide further towards decline and chaos. You hold the cards,” Kent stated.
Joseph Kent worked under the coordination of the Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard.
