A seventh man has been arrested as part of the investigation into an alleged terrorist plot near Fairford air base, announced the British anti-terrorist police on Tuesday. The young man, a 22-year-old British citizen, is suspected of preparing terrorist acts.

According to the statement, a 22-year-old British citizen was arrested on suspicion of preparing terrorist acts, under Section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006, reports POLITICO.

This is the seventh arrest in the ongoing investigation into events related to an alleged terrorist plot near the Fairford base, used by the United States for the deployment of defensive attacks against Iran.

Five British citizens were arrested on Sunday, September 27, suspected of offenses under the explosives legislation and of preparing a terrorist act, after the police were alerted about three suspicious vehicles near the air base.

No improvised explosive devices were found in the vehicles, but investigators discovered a quantity of gasoline. On Thursday, the anti-terrorist police arrested a 25-year-old British-Iranian citizen, suspected of the same offense, as part of the investigation. All six men were subsequently released on bail.
