The Republic of Moldova has the necessary tests and antibiotics in case of emergency, assures the leadership of the Ministry of Health. The statements were made in the context of a possible plague case in Russia.
Minister Alexandru Gasnaș reported that the risks for our country are minimal, writes tv8.md. A similar message was also conveyed by specialists from the National Agency for Public Health.
“We are discussing a region with certain research. There are certainly confidential data that we coordinate and the World Health Organization, in real time, to see what this impact would be. It is the Irkutsk region, an isolated region. We know that we are talking about a case of death, a pulmonary form. The other 200 people are in quarantine. At the moment, we have both the testing capacity and the necessary antibiotics in case of emergency“, explained Gasnaș.
The National Public Health Agency of the Republic of Moldova has announced that the risk of plague cases appearing within the country is assessed as being very low, and the epidemiological surveillance of these infections is carried out continuously.
According to the authority, the last natural plague outbreaks in our country were recorded in 1950.
