The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has handed another protest note to the agreed ambassador of the Russian Federation in Chisinau, Oleg Ozerov, in connection with the incident on November 25, when six drones illegally flew over the airspace of the Republic of Moldova. On the steps at the entrance to the MFA, the drone with the inscription “Z”, the symbol of Russian military aggression, which fell on the roof of the house in Cuhureștii de Jos, Florești, was displayed.
Oleg Ozerov, who was summoned on November 26 to the MFA headquarters for the second time in the last week, questioned whether the drone was Russian.
The diplomacy in Chisinau has classified the new illegal overflights of the airspace as “absolutely unacceptable actions“, emphasizing that they represent a serious violation of the sovereignty of the Republic of Moldova and a direct threat to national and regional security.
“The MFA has reiterated the call to the Russian Federation to avoid any actions that endanger the security of our country and to strictly respect international norms, as well as the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova. At the same time, the ministry has asked the Embassy of the Russian Federation to take the necessary measures to prevent the repetition of similar incidents”, according to a press release from the MFA.
The agreed ambassador of the Russian Federation in Chisinau, Oleg Ozerov, questioned the version of the authorities of the Republic of Moldova regarding the drone that fell in Florești, saying that it is impossible for a drone that runs out of fuel to land intact on the roof of a house, without causing damage.
Moreover, the diplomat stated that the number of the drone that fell in Florești would have been observed, on November 18, in the Harkov region of Ukraine, rhetorically wondering how it arrived “miraculously“, a few days later, in Florești.
“We believe that such cases should be investigated as thoroughly as the current investigation into the smuggling of weapons from Ukraine to Romania. We are open for constructive dialogue and for the development of normal relations with the Republic of Moldova, but such incidents raise numerous questions. We propose to change the logic of relations and to break this vicious circle of protest notes, because there are many operations under foreign flags and numerous attempts to deteriorate our relations with the Republic of Moldova, which are anyway at the lowest level in history”, said Ozerov.
The drone that fell in Florești was placed on the steps of the MFA before the Russian diplomat left the building.
