“The Lithuanian Parliament has tightened national sanctions against citizens from Russia and Belarus, adding a provision for revoking the residence permit (VNZ) for Russian citizens who visit the Russian Federation or Belarus. The amendments will come into effect on May 3rd, 2025, according to the official website of the Lithuanian Parliament.According to the document, the residence permit granted to a Russian citizen will be revoked if they have visited Russia or Belarus twice or more within a three-month period. There was also discussion of extending this measure to citizens from Belarus, but the initiative was not supported. The amendments were adopted with an overwhelming majority: 115 members of parliament voted “for” and one abstained.However, the law also includes exceptions. The sanctions will not apply to those who have traveled to Russia or Belarus for “objective reasons, independent of their will.” Additionally, the restrictions will not apply to employees of companies that carry goods and passengers between European Union countries, including transit through Lithuanian territory.Read more HERE”
