The separatist leader from Tiraspol has asked Chisinau for a legal qualification of the war on the Dniester. Vadim Krasnoselski claims that the constitutional administration would justify those guilty of the military conflict in 1992.
The official from the self-proclaimed region states that crimes took place during that period. In his opinion, such events “could repeat” if they are not properly assessed by Chisinau.
“So far, Moldova has not provided a legal assessment of these crimes. In other words, they justify and acquit these criminals, which means that it could repeat. Only a legal assessment can put an end to this historical event. But none of the presidents of Moldova have done this. Probably they lacked courage or conscience,” said Krasnoselski.
The Bureau of Reintegration Policies responded, according to Realitatea, stating that Moldova does not forget its heroes fallen in the war for independence.
“The peaceful resolution and respect for the territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova represent basic principles in the regulation of the Transnistrian conflict. At the same time, the authorities of the Republic of Moldova never forget their heroes fallen in the armed conflict of 1992, in defense of the territorial integrity and independence of the Republic of Moldova, a conflict triggered by external interferences. Their memory is gratefully preserved, and the state makes all efforts so that the horrors of war do not repeat,” the Bureau’s reaction states.
